What We Do

MCA is engaged in a myriad of programs and activities to promote stewardship of the resource. MCA specializes in groundbreaking initiatives that force much needed change. Most all of our programs involve research, education, and community building components.

Clammers, along with other commercial fishermen, are one of the last true hunter/gathers left on earth. The MCA promotes a transition within the clamming industry from a “taking” mindset to a stewardship mindset. With proper stewardship and restoration of the resource we can continue to enjoy wild, delicious clams for generations to come. As such, MCA’s programs focus on adapting wild clammers to our rapidly changing natural world- one that is shaped by climate change, overconsumption, overpopulation and overdevelopment.
